Grid Embossing - Pergamano Grid 28
Secure your parchment onto the grid right side facing down.
Emboss with a PCA Small Ball Tool following pencil line along the bottom and to halfway of left side.
Grid Pattern ‘Malteze’ Embossing
Leaving one row of holes on bottom and left side from the embossed border made in previous step start to emboss the ‘Grid Pattern Malteze’ panel.
Build the pattern up the left hand side 3 patterns in a row followed by 2 patterns until you have 37 rows in total, once you have this lace panel in place you can complete the embossing of the outer border started in Step 4.

Grid Perforating
Attach your design onto a Pergamano Grid 28 right side facing up carefully aligning your border embossed dots.
Perforate 2 rows around the outside edge of the border using a PCA Uni Bold Tool
NOTE: You can use a PCA Bold Twin or Quad to speed up this process.

Adding Colour with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Pens & Alcohol Blender Pen
Add colour on the back inside the main and 3D dragonfly wings.
Apply a line of colour to the outside edge only using the bullet tip of the pen; blend the colour downwards into the rest of the space using an alcohol blender pen.
TIP: Clean the colour from the blender pen by wiping the nib on a piece of kitchen paper.

Adding with Sakura Stardust Gel Pens
Add colour on the front to the dragonfly bodies, I applied 2 layers of colour
Let your first layer completely dry before applying a 2nd layer.
Emboss these sections from the back when dry using a PCA Medium Ball Tool.

Assembly
Cut a piece of white card to fit inside the embossed border of your design attach this to a lilac card cut slightly larger using all-purpose glue.
Cut a strip of silver mirror card to fit behind your lace panel, attach to the white card with glue.
Attach the parchment topper by sewing with a needle and white cotton perforating through existing holes around the edge.
Add glitter to the dragonfly wings and decorative embossed sun & star shapes using a Quickie Glue Pen and fine glitter, I used the ‘Crystalina Rainbow’ by Sweet Poppy Stencils it is extremely fine and doesn't cling to the rest of the parchment paper.
Attach the 3D wings with tiny amounts of Cosmic Shimmer Glue.
Attach the whole piece onto an A5 folded card using all purpose glue.
This design can be adapted for many occasions you can replace a dragonfly with a greeting.
You can make a simple card topper or gift tag just using one dragonfly; this would be a good idea to try out the colouring technique explained in the instructions.
This ‘Malteze’ pattern can be embossed or perforated and cut in different ways to create a completely different look, why not experiment to see how many designs you can make from this simple pattern sequence.
